: David Lynch is a contemporary filmmaker, painter, visual artist, writer, and musician.
He is mostly known for his surrealistic, uniquely disturbing and mind-bending films, which contrast the cheerfully and trivial with the shockingly macabre and ugly, spiked with thematic and motivic stylistics.
: For my visual research i worked out contentual, physical, visual and auditory aspects of his work. I created a unique font by a simple print technique i played with, iconic images, sound and an immersive installation where the viewer can experience the extracts of Lynches filmes by peeking through an earhole.
I printed black, red and blue collages on transparencies wich are backlit with red and blue LED-light, allowing the content of the transparencies to change depending on the colour projected on them, miming the medium film.
The collages itself are a combination of Lynches stylistics and quotations like the color red and blue, nightmarish and surrealistic images, duplications, voyeurism, etc. giving the viewer space for interpretation while hearing a mechanical, monoton, sound swirling from behind the wall you can only peek through.
